Scholarship Information

Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc., is sponsoring the Florence K. Norman college scholarship to assist young female students in their undergraduate studies. The women of Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc., are dedicated to the improvement of life in their communities. Our ideals: Sisterhood, Achievement, Service, and Scholarship, are the cornerstones upon which our Sorority is built. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, community service, and financial need.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Florence K. Norman Scholarship, female students must:

• Be a high school senior (provide proof of college acceptance) or an undergraduate college student in good standing (if seeking renewal scholarship)
• Have an overall minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
• Demonstrate strong leadership ability and a commitment to community service
• Show a financial need

Deadline

New applicants must submit all required documentation by May 1^st, 2025. Renewing recipients must submit their requests by May 10^th, 2025. Applicants must communicate to the individuals completing recommendation letters, providing transcripts that the deadline is April 1^st. Therefore, requests should be made early enough to allow time to complete. Incomplete or late applications/documentation will not be considered.

Where to Send Application/Documentation

All documentation must be sent via email to fknscholarship24@gmail.com. 

Award Date

Scholarship awardees will be notified by June 30^th, 2025. Funds will be sent directly to the college or university on behalf of the applicant.

* Note the application is a fillable Adobe PDF file that must be completed on a laptop or desktop computer. Please follow the steps below:

2. Gather appropriate information needed from the Required Documentation section as much as possible.
3. Once the application has been downloaded and saved to your computer, open the saved file containing the scholarship application.
4. Fill out the scholarship application entirely and save the file again.
5. Please email the completed scholarship application and the other required
   documents to fknscholarship24@gmail.com (All attachments must be in PDF format)

I received the FKN stipend to support my undergraduate studies at Lincoln University in Biology/Pre-Med from 1980 until 1984. Afterwards I attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 1991. I have been in private practice in Baltimore, Maryland, since 1993. I am truly thankful for the Florence K. Norman Scholarship. It was a blessing and an investment in my future. I am proud to be able to give back to this great effort!

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have been chosen as one of the scholarship recipients. My education has always been of importance to me, and to be rewarded with this scholarship is very humbling.
