Florence K. Norman Scholarship
Scholarship Information
The Florence K. Norman Scholarship is the charitable fund of Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc. We are proud to offer the 2026 Florence K. Norman Scholarship to support young women in high school and college in pursuit of higher education. This scholarship reflects our unwavering commitment to the ideals of Sisterhood, Achievement, Service, and Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, community service, and demonstrated financial need.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a graduating high school senior, or current college student.
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited degree or certificate program.
- Must demonstrate strong academic achievement and leadership.
- Must submit a completed application with all required materials by the deadline.
- Relatives of board or committee members are NOT eligible to apply.

Hello, I am currently in the School of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of San Francisco. I have been a recipient of the Kopelle scholarship for the past two years. Receiving this scholarship has been a great blessing for both me and my family. It has helped to reduce the cost of attending a private institution. As a first generation college student, it is very important to me that I obtain a good education in order to support my family and myself in the future. I received the FKN stipend to support my undergraduate studies at Lincoln University in Biology/Pre-Med from 1980 until 1984. Afterwards I attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in 1991. I have been in private practice in Baltimore, Maryland, since 1993. I am truly thankful for the Florence K. Norman Scholarship. It was a blessing and an investment in my future. I am proud to be able to give back to this great effort!

Words cannot express how thankful I am to have been chosen as one of the scholarship recipients. My education has always been of importance to me, and to be rewarded with this scholarship is very humbling. I was able to receive funds quickly to purchase my college textbooks and other expenses for the new school year.
My English classes especially require books upon books for the classes, and without the money from this scholarship, I would not have the opportunity to succeed in school and work hard to earn my college degree.

The women of Lambda Kappa Mu have been THE most responsive, supportive and genuine women. Sometimes I get caught up in the now and forget to acknowledge you all and give my upmost gratitude. However, I can always count on Ms. Kimberly or Ms. Diane to humble me, get back on track and refocus. This year has been a year to make strides to get to the end result.Because a part of moving forward is giving back,—although I’m not at point in life, yet, to give back financially—I can definitely give my gratitude.
